On October 4, 2019, NI Institute and Museum – Bitola organized an exhibition on accessibility to cultural heritage that was held in the Magaza in Bitola. Mobility Bitola, in collaboration with the Museum, has been advocating for increased access to cultural heritage for many years and was also part of this exhibition. In collaboration with experts from Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and other Balkan countries, the Bitola Museum has taken a major step and now, in addition to architectural barriers, has also bridged the barriers for the visually impaired and the blind, as well as for the deaf, by using audiovisual sign language presentation. Visually impaired visitors, in addition to the Braille alphabet, were also able to scan the code to get an audio presentation of the work. With all this, the Bitola Museum is counted among the state-of-the-art facilities for the presentation of cultural heritage. This is what the team expert, Dr. Irena Ruzin, Program Director at NI Institute and Museum - Bitola pointed out at the opening. The opening was also attended by the Mayor of the Municipality of Bitola, Natasha Petrovska, as well as numerous guests, associations and institutions. The media also attended the event. We hope that the commitments expressed on this occasion will be binding on the institutions of the system at both local and state level. Activities continue.
