Workshop for personal assistance in Bitola

Following the program goals, "Mobility Bitola" organizes and conducts thematic meetings that are of great importance for the general life of persons with physical disabilities. This time, after the completion of the project by the European Union and the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy for the social inclusion of persons with disabilities and the pilot program for personal assistance, a meeting was organized on this topic. The findings are small, the experiences are even smaller, but the desires are great.
In the presence of the Mayor of the Municipality of Bitola, Ms. Natasha Petrovska, President of the Macedonian Scientific Society - Bitola, Assoc. Dr. Marijan Tanushevski, President of the NCB and "Mobility Macedonia", Branimir Jovanovski, as well as representatives of several associations of "Mobility", there was a discussion on this issue. After the welcome speeches, there was a presentation on the course and the outcome of the initial knowledge of personal assistance as a necessity. The users, service providers, ie assistants, pilots and providers shared their general opinions and suggestions on what to do next.
Namely, in the Republic of Macedonia, there is no precise regulation for this type of right nor guidance who, how and how much it will be practiced, who will monitor etc. All the considerations were welcomed with hope that the process began with the sublimation of conclusions that will be part of the future law on social protection, where with coordination (between sectors and between ministries) will be achieved optimal conditions for the revival of these, but also many other rights contained in the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
In her address, the Mayor of Bitola pledged to use all the (legal) options that are available to them, and to to make the cooperation and realization of the goals and perspectives more concrete. According to our, and I hope your opinion, the meeting had a productive character and opened new directions of action and cooperation. The process has begun, so we can support the realization as a basis for the future
