New equipment and renovated sports hall in CSW – Bitola

On October 14, 2022, the renovated sports hall was officially put into use at the Center for Social Work - Bitola, where people with disabilities will have the opportunity to increase physical activity. This donation of equipment worth MKD 111,847 has been provided within the framework of the project "Strengthening local capacities for the implementation of Agenda 2030 and the principle that no one should be left behind" in partnership with ZELS. The project is implemented by NALAS - Network of National Associations of Local Authorities in Southeast Europe and ZELS, in cooperation with GIZ, and on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). Within the framework of the project, the municipality previously carried out several activities, and with this donation, which is given to the Association for Sport and Recreation of the Disabled - Bitola, which includes people with different disabilities, it enables support for people with physical, visual and hearing and speech impairments from the aspect of providing conditions for encouraging and increasing their physical and sports activity, by providing appropriate equipment for it. "In addition to this donation, with funds from the municipality from the youth and sports program for 2021, the sports hall was renovated (painting, scraping and lacquering of the parquet), which significantly improved the conditions for people with disabilities in this hall," said the mayor of the municipality of Bitola, Dr. Toni Konjanovski, who emphasized that the municipality continues to initiate and support various activities that contribute to the improvement of conditions for persons facing certain disabilities. Among the associations that will use this space is "Mobility Bitola", whose members and representatives attended the event. "I would like to express my gratitude to the municipality for the great cooperation that we have had for many years and I hope that we will continue to cooperate," said our member and Paralympian Olivera Nakovska Bikova. "For people with physical disabilities, it is a very important segment in the overall living to have -and it is fortunate that we have it - a hall like this that will also have such props. We have had quite a few props like this before, but they were a bit left to the test of time. Now we hope that this hall will be able to be used as much as possible, not only for people with physical disabilities, but also for people with other disabilities", added the president prim. Dr. Niko Jankov. We expect the number of our members who will use the renovated hall and the new equipment to grow, and the benefits of physical activity and socializing will be multiple. Activities continue.
