Traditional Parade on “Shirok sokak”

On June 29th 2013 was organized and carried out the traditional Parade on the main street “Shirok sokak”, to which were invited several associations of Mobility Macedonia, associations of the blind and deaf, as well as other non-governmental associations. Local governments have traditionally supported the event, and the Mayor Mr. Vladimir Taleski and President of the Council, Professor. Dr. Silvana Angelevska regularly attend our activities. This year too, Mobility Bitola continues to lobby for the implementation of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities of the United Nations in the field of local government.
Pursuant to Article 19, the state that ratifies the Convention and the Optional Protocol recognizes that persons with disabilities have the opportunity to choose a place to live on equal terms with others, without obligation for special arrangements. They must have access to support services in their homes, institutions with inclusion and prevent isolation. The services have to be accessible and available. Also, under the law, the local community agrees the choice of lifestyle, without coercion of life in institutions, if they do not like, choosing where to live including personal assistance, personal assistance and prevention of isolation. To use the services of the local community that are available to the public and tailored to their needs.
In the presence of the media, the event was opened by the President of Mobility Bitola prim. Dr. Nico Yankov, who explained that the purpose of this event is to strengthen the capacity of disability organizations, encouraging and fostering the institutions of local government to implement the rights contained in Article 19, building partnerships in the development of plans and other documents that  affect people with disabilities and many other matters of common interest.
Then there was a presentation by the President of the Council of Bitola, prof. Dr. Silvana Angelevska, which confirmed the long-standing cooperation Mobility Bitola and implementation of the work of rights under Article 19 and others that affect people with disabilities. The next to address  was the President of Mobility Macedonia and National Coordination Body for equal opportunities for persons with disabilities in the Government - Mr. Branimir Jovanovski, who noted that the efforts of Macedonia and Mobility NCP are to lobby the state institutions and that this is a good start to achieve that goal. Then, around hundred of members and citizens participated in the Parade from the square "Magnolia" to the hotel "Epinal".
The second part of the event was held at the restaurant "Be-Ni Fountain" in Bistrica. Our supporters and sponsors "Medicus Help" held interesting lecture about the innovations that were successfully introduced by Irina Georgievska. Before the presentation, it was discussed about the purpose of these events, and Mr. Branimir Jovanovski gave special emphasis on orthopedic devices, guidance, opinions, commitments and requirements in the interest of improved orthopedic devices from all aspects. Afterwards, the members and activists had lunch.
We hope that this event attracted the attention that we need, and the effects will be felt later. We continue with the same pace, hoping for even more successful communication and presentation in the implementation of the rights of persons with disabilities contained in the UN Convention.
